This unique and unusual data driven role has been created to provide market, trend and competitor analysis and insight that will help form the business strategy and commercial response for this highly successful Midlands business. The organisation are a long-standing business with an enviable local reputation and who have acquired a number of new businesses over the last 10 years.

The role requires one day per week in the central Birmingham office and 4 days based from your chosen location, consequently it offers exciting flexibility for some of the best minds. The role with feed insight into the Senior Leadership team and is intended to improve hard data driven decision making. That said this role will not only need to be able to develop reports and data extraction methods but will also offer clear analysis and interpretation to aid in the digestion of the information. Therefore, the ideal candidate will enjoy quantitative and qualitative research and be fluent presenter of such data. Consequently, although you will have excellent data analysis and research at a senior level you will also be confident to develop and deliver a cogent argument when presenting the findings.

The role gives an enviable opportunity for someone to create the data set and analysis as they see fit, in line with the expectations of the board. Although the role offers excellent remote working opportunities, you will not be working alone. Working with senior stakeholders as well as staff from across the business it will be important that you enjoy working with a wider team. You will also build your own team of data analysts to support the progress the work of this new department.

Key skills and attributes:

  • Strong experience with data analytics packages such as PowerBI, Python, R or SQL
  • Curious by nature and interested in your subject
  • Ability to develop and present a strong narrative for the data
  • Keen to explore position analysis and business impact to deliver commercial insights that will affect business strategy
  • Experience of using data to reports and insights is essential
  • Having worked in a data analyst or data scientist role, desirable.
