We're currently partnering with a leading organisation to recruit a Data Protection GDPR Specialist to join its Birmingham-based team. This highly regarded specialist organisation has a strong reputation for advising clients across the public sector, housing sector, and other regulated environments.
You will play a key role within a growing compliance function, working closely with the Head of Data Protection and senior stakeholders to support the delivery of robust data protection practices. You will help ensure compliance with UK GDPR and wider information governance requirements across a varied portfolio of work.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs) from start to finish, including reviewing large volumes of information and removing sensitive details where required.
- Review privacy assessments to identify potential risks and provide practical recommendations to help manage them.
- Check contracts relating to the use and sharing of personal data, ensuring they meet legal requirements and highlighting any concerns.
- Support information governance, data protection, and compliance projects across the organisation.
- Provide advice and guidance to colleagues on data protection requirements and good practice.
- Help develop and improve internal policies, procedures, and compliance processes to support the organisation's regulatory obligations.
Requirements
- Strong working knowledge of UK GDPR and data protection legislation, gained through practical experience.
- Experience handling sensitive and confidential information with professionalism, discretion, and a high level of attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to engage effectively with a range of stakeholders.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
