A well-established Professional Services firm, known for its strong reputation, is looking to appoint a Data Protection Executive to its specialist Information Governance and Data Protection team in Birmingham city centre.
The Role
You will join a fast-paced team, working closely with the Head of Data Protection across both client-facing and internal governance work. The role demands accuracy, attention to detail, and confidence handling technical material.
Key Responsibilities:
- Taking ownership of Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs) from initial review through to completion, including handling high volumes of data and performing precise redactions.
- Reviewing Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), identifying key concerns, and providing clear, structured feedback for clients.
- Examining Data Processing Agreements (DPAs) to identify omissions, inconsistencies, and potential risks, and escalating findings where necessary.
- Assisting with a range of information governance and compliance activities, including advisory work and internal processes.
Requirements
- Solid working knowledge of GDPR and UK data protection law, with practical application (no legal qualification required).
- Understanding of key data protection risks and compliance principles.
- Experience handling sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
- Excellent attention to detail, particularly in document review and redaction.
- Strong communication skills, able to explain technical matters clearly.
- Well-organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities accurately.
