We are currently partnering with a leading organisation to recruit a Data Protection GDPR Specialist to join their Birmingham-based team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced data protection professional to play a key role within a growing compliance function, working closely with the Head of Data Protection and senior stakeholders to support both client-facing projects and internal governance initiatives. You will contribute to the delivery of robust data protection practices, ensuring compliance with UK GDPR and wider information governance requirements across a varied portfolio of work.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end management of Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs), including the review of large volumes of data and undertaking detailed redaction exercises.
- Review and assess Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), identifying risks and providing clear, practical recommendations.
- Evaluate Data Processing Agreements (DPAs) to ensure compliance, identify contractual risks, and highlight areas requiring further attention.
- Support wider information governance and compliance projects across the organisation.
- Provide guidance and support to stakeholders on data protection matters and regulatory obligations.
- Contribute to the continuous development of internal policies, processes, and compliance frameworks.
Requirements
- A strong working knowledge of UK GDPR and data protection legislation, gained through practical experience.
- Experience handling sensitive and confidential information with professionalism, discretion, and a high level of attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to engage with a range of stakeholders.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
